Admission Process
During the second week of October we have our Open House. This year our Open House will take place on the 12th, 13th, and 14th of October. Open House begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 10:00 a.m. We will have two separate tours of our school on each day. Please be sure to call the school at (415) 346-5505 to schedule a day and time that is convenient for you. Just ask for Maria Balestrieri, our Admissions Director, and she will be happy to make an appointment for you.
Your Open House experience will begin with refreshments. You will then be given a complete tour of our entire school with one or two of our junior high students acting as your tour guides. Be sure to ask your tour guides lots of questions because they will give you very candid answers.
After your student tour, you will return to our school lobby where you will have the opportunity to meet many of our school parents. They too, will give you very candid answers to any questions you may have. During this time you may take advantage of looking at a video of school life at Saint Vincent de Paul School or you may browse through our "Historian's Photo Journal" for the school year 2008-2009.
Your tour will culminate in the library where you will meet our principal, Mrs. Vigo. Mrs. Vigo will speak to you for 20 minutes, giving you a general overview of school life at Saint Vincent de Paul School. Afterwards there will be a question and answer period.
If at the conclusion of your Open House Tour you feel you would like to learn more about Saint Vincent de Paul School, you may make an appointment to return and visit our kindergarten class for 20-30 minutes so that you may get a "better feel" for the kindergarten experience.
The best way to choose a school for your child is to visit the school so you can get a "feel" for the atmosphere and community, as well as the education process. We look forward to seeing you in October!
Application materials are available at the Open House or you may download an application from this website. The application period is from October 1st to December 1st, 2010. Once you submit your application and all other necessary documents, we will contact you to schedule an evaluation of your child which will take place in January, 2011. Once all of our applicants have been evaluated, we will contact you and advise you of your child's admission status. This letter typically goes out the first or second week of February.
If you would like to accept our invitation to join the Saint Vincent de Paul family, we will require you to make a non-refundable deposit of $1,000. This deposit will be applied to your child's registration fee and tuition.
If you have an older child, we would encourage you to come to our Open House. If you are interested in having your child attend Saint Vincent de Paul School we would then ask your child to take an exam so that we could be sure we are placing him or her at the appropriate grade level. We would then ask your child to spend either one half or a full day at our school so that he/she may "get a feel" for the Saint Vincent de Paul School experience.
