Mission:
The mission of the De Paul Youth Club is to provide a Catholic sports and recreational environment for boys and girls which promotes personal development, fosters teamwork, and teaches important life-skills necessary for becoming a valued member of society.
Philosophy:
The De Paul Youth Club has three main objective and purposes:
1. To promote and encourage the development of Catholic values through
interaction with peers.
2. To develop the concept of community and respect for others through
sports.
3. To provide participation and involvement among all children on a social, as
well as competitive basis.
Athletic activity plays an important part in the growth and development of children. Team sports, competitive contests and special outdoor activities are opportunities to keep the body fit and the mind fresh. For these reasons the De Paul Youth Club encourages the participation of all children, not merely the skilled athletes. In order to encourage wide participation and to foster Catholic values, the De Paul Youth Club athletic program must be built on a strong foundation of dedicated coaches and children open to learning and playing. The De Paul Youth Club has a duty to each of its participants, both coaches and players, to provide the best possible atmosphere of interaction and competition. This should not be based on winning or losing, but it should be understood in terms of improvement, enjoyment, self-confidence, and the development of the virtues of honesty, responsibility, trustworthiness, justice, and patience.
