Academic Chess

Academic Chess

Academic chess is available to all students.  Academic Chess is held on Wednesday afternoons from 2:00 to 3:00 and from 3:00 to 4:00.  You may sign-up for the class time that is most convenient for you.  Chess increases IQ and teaches children to:  Think deeply, gain confidence, solve problems, develop patience, evaluate positions, compete well, visualize results, and to plan and strategize well.  The classes involve 8 weeks of instruction, a tournament for all participants, exclusive academic chess booklets, and opportunities to earn extra “chess bucks.” Academic Chess is an independent organization that comes to our school once a week.  They currently charge $88 for the 8 after school sessions.  Prices are subject to change.

Participating students are to go to the school library for chess class.
