School Counselor
The counseling program at Saint Vincent de Paul School is designed to support and enhance each child’s personal, social, emotional, and academic potential. We are able and willing to work with an individual student, a group of students, parents, or an entire family.
The program focuses on the strengths of our students and helps them utilize these strong points in approaching other difficulties. Many academic, social, emotional, and even health problems can be associated with an imbalance within an individual, group, or family dynamic.
The program exists to offer tools, insights, and support to help the student and family grow, succeed, and maximize their potential. Throughout the school year, we run a variety of workshops both in the classroom and within a smaller, group setting. The topics include friendship and social skills, communication skills, self-esteem strengthening, bullying, interest building, “Safe Kids, Smart Kids” program, learning styles and study skills, motivation strategies, and, for parents, the proper usage of reinforcement strategies.
