Welcome to the Saint Vincent de Paul Library,
The library is well-used at St. Vincent de Paul School. It is open to all grades, Kindergarten through Eighth, during the week. Everyday the third and fourth grade reading groups meet in the library and fourth grade Language Arts is held here twice a week. On Wednesdays, the Chess Club meets here. The session runs from 2:00 - 3:00 PM.
The library is stocked with over 9,000 books. There are two iMacs for the children to use, either in their reading groups or in library time. In the summer of 2008, a Smart Board was installed. I use this interactive board in my reading groups as a visual aid to our lessons. It is also used to enhance our lessons by showing short videos about the theme or subject matter of the stories we are reading. Just before the Book Fair, I show all students the author video to give them a preview of selected books they may find at the fair. (Check my November calendar for Book Fair dates. Year round the supply store is open to purchase supplies, sweatshirts and sweatpants. If your child needs to purchase an item, the student may see me in the library or you can email me your request. I will then let you know the cost, which can be sent to the office. I will then bring your child the requested items.
